The Da Vinci Code Response
The Da Vinci Code argues that the church suppressed the truth - that the story of Jesus, dying on the Cross for the sins of the world, is utterly false.
Brown's novel - based, he insists, on fact - suggests that Jesus survived to marry Mary Magdalene and that their descendants live to this day in France. Brown implies the Bible is a late, distorted selection of documents chosen by a clergy bent on selling a particular myth.
Dr Michael Green goes back to the original sources to check these assertions. The church certainly denounced many 'gospels' and other purported revelations. Why? What did it fear?
Reviews
‘Green is a leading evangelist and a gifted academic who has written significant studies on the early Church. This volume communicates both his passion for proclaiming the Christian faith and his detailed acquaintance with many early Christian writings. His book is lively and accessible, and seeks not only to refute misrepresentations of Christian origins in The Da Vinci Code but also to offer a positive presentation in the Christian faith.
...Green suceeds in presenting a very readable and wide-ranging account of early Christian history and the formation of the New Testament that shows just how distorted are claims advanced in Dan Brown's novel.'
